2011 BMW 5-Series

The new car is the redesign of the E60 with delicate elements, for example, the hard fold running through the door handles, hood detailing and the contours of the body sides, with the additions of an aggressiveness and depth that exceeds leaving the previous model are improved much. The used material is much richer as compare to other of the outgoing 5-series. The wood trim looks far more upscale, soft leathers and the seats are extremely comfortable. Seats are heavenly optional with many additional adjustments that include to separate the upper lower seatback angle for the eventual shoulder support.

The new car certainly has automatic features. The electric power steering allows the car to move according to its turns. BMW uses ultrasonic sensors to view a parking spot and to judge whether it is large enough or not? If the available space is not enough then the press of a button takes the car into action and the essential steering contributions are automatically done while the driver just controls the vehicle speed.

BMW claims that it is introduced with improved high-speed stability. With the Sport package that is optional, it also gets Driving Dynamics Control that is controlled by a rocker button on the center comfort to choose the settings for the adaptive shocks. There are four settings: Normal, Comfort, Sport, and Sport +. There is a standard series of driver-assistance systems such as lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, swiveling adaptive headlights, active cruise control, night vision with pedestrian detection, a head-up display and a hill-hold function. It also carries six cameras mounted onto the 5; one is near the rearview mirror, two are installed in the front bumper, there is one on each exterior mirror and one is mounted in back. “Top View” a new system, is introduced that combines the images into an overhead view of the car to help with crossing cramped quarters and camera images are displayed in Side View from the front bumper to check cross traffic when running on a road.

The driver’s control has been removed and to ride the brakes, the ability has been added to standard cruise control to keep a set speed while running down a hill. In addition if it senses that you’re bending aggressively with the cruise set and passenger’s comfort is upset—the car will reduce its speed automatically, in BMW’s words.

The wheelbase is 3.2 inches longer, at 116.9 inches; the overall length is enlarged just 1.8 inches that’s mean extra knee clearance for rear-seat passengers and shorter overhangs. The front suspension continues to be aluminum. The hood and the rear multilink suspension are aluminum, too. The doors of the car are made with aluminum and reduce its weight in 50 pounds while rest of the structure is made of steel. Stiffness are also claimed to be very much improved.
