What's New for 2011
The Ford Shelby GT500 has received clear improvements for 2011. The previous iron version is replaced by a new aluminum engine. It shaves more than 100 pounds in the front end that is designed to promote sharper and faster handling. The later engine is also more fuel efficient than the older version and allows to avoid dreadful use of the fuel. A couple of new features are also added such as the MyKey system and xenon headlights that allow the drivers to limit the stereo's volume and the vehicle's top speed.
Introduction
In the suspension and tire fitment, the Shelby GT500 had much tweaks but in 2011, engineers improved these things. They introduced the new aluminum block for the big V8. The new engine reduces the weight of about 100 pounds and makes the engine more powerful and efficient in work.
Last year the car was charging 60mph in 4.3 seconds and was ripping through the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds. The latest model boasts good and confident feel on the curves and turns this is because of the optimal suspension tuning and new compounds in tires.
Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 is a high-performance alternate of the Mustang. It offers seats. It is also available in convertible body style or coupe. 19- inches standard wheels are provided to the car. These are highly performance tires. Hood-mounted heat extractors, a front air splitter, xenon headlights, a power driver seat, a rear spoiler, cruise control, air-conditioning, high-performance tires, audio system with a CD player, eight speakers, Brembo brakes, the Sync multimedia voice-control system, auxiliary/USB audio jacks, satellite radio, leather-upholstered sport bucket seats with Cobra logos are also the features of the model.
The convertible models of the GT500 come with a soft top. Whereas both the models, convertible or coupe have side strips. Racing strips are additional feature of coupe over the nose and the tail.
Ford also has a stripe delete options for its customers and offers include
Glass roof for the coupe, HD radio, dual-zone climate control, Electronics package, an upgraded 10-speaker, the SVT Performance package, 19-inch front/20-inch rear wheels in unique style, revised suspension calibrations and a 3.73 limited-slip rear axle.
Performance
The fuel economy of the vehicle is rated at 23 mpg highway and 15 mpg city. Brake fade is the non issue and braking power is really amazing comparing the heavy cars.
Safety
ABS, stability control, front-seat side airbags and traction control are the standard features for safety. MyKey system is available in the car to limit the car’s top speed. But there is no spare tire but a kit is provided in case of any tire problem. But still the over all security system is good and you can rely over its features.
