Local car dealerships shifted into overdrive in 2010.
Sales floors were busy across the state last year.
The annual report from the California New Car Dealers Association just out says sales of new cars and light trucks shot up more than 13 percent in 2010 compared with '09.
A slightly larger increase – 13.3 percent – is predicted for 2011 by the dealers.
That would equate to 1.3 million new vehicle sales for the year.
The Honda Civic was the best-selling vehicle in California last year, followed closely by the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
The Ford F-150 was the best-selling truck.
