Maintenance made easy

Many of the automakers are thankful to the advanced technology but it has made the creations much easier to maintain. But you will have to also accept the truth that it is not easy unless you have a bunch of specialized tools and a high-tech computer diagnostic system. Though, it is easier to know when you need maintenance for your car by an authorized service center.

To calculate service intervals, all the vehicles use complex computer systems. That is a better way for you to calculate that time has come for service. Many of the automakers cover general maintenance items to make it easier. For instance, all model-year 2006 and newer Volvo are coming under the company's Secure and Safe Plan that fundamentally covers the whole things but tires are guaranteed only for 50,000 miles or five years.

Maintenance plans are not offered by all automobile companies but you should know that what basic services are offered at your car's mileage milestones to keep your car in best running condition.

Milestones vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so below are some insights into mileage milestones by some experts. They guide us to what services should be performed on your car at what intervals.

Oil and Oil Filter
This is the most important maintenance procedure for your car, SUV or truck. Changing oil filter and the oil keeps your engine vital and fast running. Oil-change mileage milestones greatly differ by driving conditions and manufacturer, usually ranging from 3,000 miles and what owner’s manual describes in “severe driving conditions" to 15,000 miles. Nowadays many of the cars have onboard computers that analyze the service time by using fuel utilization, some rocket-science algorithm and miles driven. Experts suggest that consumers should observe their engine oil and change it every 7,500 miles. Also use a quality oil filter and the recommended grade of oil.

Tire Rotation
Proper tire rotation help you to save the money and also extends the life of the tire. Keeping the proper tire pressure is important for the performance and longevity of the tire. Tyres should be properly inflated according to the manufacturer's levels. Usually manufacturers prescribe it as low as 15,000 miles to 3,000 miles.

Brake Pads and Rotors
Brakes are important part. Experts insist that brakes should be inspected carefully at every service interval. The key is to change pads well and monitor brake-pad wear before they go bare, because metal-to-metal, pad-to-rotor contact will turn a rapid pad swap into a complete reconstruct and a deal with serious blow. The pads will have 15 percent of wear remaining; it is the best time to change them. If in any case, consumers feel deteriorating braking performance, they should take their vehicle to check by the mechanic.

Air Filter
Who does not want to breathe in fresh air? Some times particulates gather in the filter that restricted the flow and the engine can lose its smoothness and power. Experts say that the failure of the mass airflow sensor is the fourth common reason for the activation of check-engine lights that is caused by pollutants that got past an air filter.
