Toyota has revealed its company's new 200-hp rear-wheel-drive sports coupe. The car is named Toyota 86 in Japan and sold as Scion FR-S in the United States has been introduced after a struggle of five years and got detailed study from Toyota. Toyota has been banking on the car as a reasonably priced halo model to shine the company's presentation records.
The 86 delivers a top speed of 142 mph and can do a 0-to-62-mph run in six seconds. But raw speed is not the objective. The model is true assigned to multifold:
-- Attain a low price point that can attract recent university graduates.
-- Struggle for fun-to-drive handling with a small center of significance.
-- Strip out fancy electronic-control turbochargers and systems.
-- Deliver an easily customized ride that is tuned by car buffs.
Toyota hasn't revealed gas-mileage or price estimation. Toyota said that they intend to price the car in a choice that would be reasonably priced for people.
Going low-tech
These days a lot of cars are controlled by computer chips and it guides us to a sense that car is leads you on the way, instead of you drive the car. The car has been decided to utilize as few computer controls as potential.
The 86 was together developed with Subaru that first appears as its version, “the BRZ”. Toyota introduced styling in the version.
Toyota has launched the car himself by flooring a bright vermillion 86 down that is dressed in a red-and-black racing suit.
Toyota 86 first came out as a candy-apple-red FT-86 idea at the 2009 Tokyo motor show. In Japan, the manufacture version drops the "FT" classification for ideas that signifies "Future Toyota.
No design by committee
Toyota confesses the car won't be able to satisfy everyone. Toyota broke with a long tradition of designing by board to carry a car reasoned to be sports-car fans brought together from the company. They have their main focus on driving feel not on numbers.
When you introduce your sports car to the board of directors, the first question they will ask, how fast speed does it delivers? How its speed does evaluate with rivals? What is its lap time? Tada said, “It doesn’t have market value, when we say it is not quick enough and didn't have enough new skills”.
"But what makes this car a unique one? Tada said, “We did not pay attention to the traditional Toyota development pattern. Akio Toyoda is the reason who guided us to do this.”
Toyoda was the person to check all the development projects of 86 on monthly bases and gave orders on what to fix in the car.
The Toyota 86 acquires a 2.0-liter four cylinder, DOHC boxer engine with Toyota's D-4S fuel injection system. It is approached mated to either a six-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual, at the same time topping out at 7,000 rpm and delivering 200 hp.
The car is expected to enter production next spring and is expected to sale on next year.
